Project description

The railway station České Budějovice Main Station, which is registered as an immovable cultural monument, has undergone extensive reconstruction aimed at modernising the operational areas and increasing passenger comfort. The revitalisation included the repair of the façade, roof and replacement of windows, while new office space was created for the employees of the Railway Administration and Czech Railways. The north wing was designed as a rentable space, while the ground floor is used for commercial purposes and passenger services such as ticket offices and toilets. The main objective of the modernisation of the operational premises was to increase passenger comfort and to create new administrative and operational facilities for the organisational units of the Railway Administration.
The new northern entrance and the routing of the main passenger movement route to the safe dispersal area on the northern side, in front of the crossing at Lann Avenue, contributed to increased passenger safety. This solution splits the flow of people coming out already inside the building, reducing congestion on the pavement in front of the building along the busy Station Street.
The renovation has thus restored the building's significance not only as an important transport structure, but also as a gateway and calling card of the regional city.
